As part of Team Aspects, parents receive individualized coaching to help them take part in their child's transformation. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst will develop protocols to help families manage difficult behavior and coach them along the way to replace undesired behaviors with more appropriate solutions. Parents will be fully equipped with the ABCs of ABA if, and when, they are faced with challenging behavior.
ABA-based therapy is a lengthy, but rewarding process. Although most parents see gains in the first few months of therapy, it requires a long-term commitment in order to achieve the best outcome for each child. ABA is scientifically proven to increase IQ, while improving socially significant behavior in individuals with autism and other developmental disorders. These improvements in behavior open up a new world of learning and achieving for children on the spectrum and allows them to master appropriate social and language skills, and most importantly, become self-sufficient in many areas.
The core principle of ABA is that an individual’s behavior is …
Lawful (Guided by principles)
Observable (We can see it)
Measurable (We can count it)
When you collect data on behavior that you can observe and measure, you can start to determine patterns in the behavior itself, as well as the motivation, or function, for the behavior. Once those patterns and functions are revealed, modifying undesired behavior and teaching new replacement behavior becomes less difficult.
